Presentation: Parking Structure Expansion Joint Systems – Design, Specification, and Quality Control
Description: Structure expansion control is a necessary and vital part of any structure’s performance, durability, and sustainability. The proper selection and specification of the actual expansion control system is an essential element in achieving value and performance. This presentation will review contributing factors leading to determining need for an expansion joint within a structure and then applying the criteria to specific product types and project applications for attainment of performance longevity.
Speaker Bio:
Mr. Anderson has been successfully engaged in the non-residential US construction markets for over 43 years. Having served in various executive sales & marketing, business development, operational management and technical positions, Mr. Anderson has been broadly involved with serving US bridge & highway infrastructure, commercial architectural building, stadium & sports venues and parking structure markets through specialty engineered construction products; distribution channels and professional engineering consulting services.
In his 34th year with the company, where he has held a variety of executive leadership, business development and marketing posts, Mr. Anderson is currently a Market Development Manager ? Building Solutions Team for BASF Construction Chemicals.
Mr. Anderson introduced the first-to-market “winged expansion joint” concept to the US Parking Garage market and developed the WBA Factory Trained Applicator program with both the product concept and contractor program highly regarded and used as a Q/C benchmark.
Mr. Anderson is active in the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI), serving as the co-Chair of the Planning, Design & Construction Committee and frequent industry contributor to the Parking Professional magazines including the Ask-the-Experts columns. He served as a contributing reviewer of IPMI Parking Management- The Next Level, volume 2 in the Parking 101 Series; and a frequent contributor to the on topics as varied as Strategic Planning to Customer Service to Parking Garage Restoration & Maintenance.
Anderson has given numerous industry presentations and authored various articles and commentary including, as a Member of American Concrete Institute Committee 362, Parking Structures, was a contributing author to the ACI publication “Guide for the Design of Durable Parking Structures”.
Anderson has been recognized by BASF for Collaborative Cross Business Line Excellence and Contributions as well as project successes.
