Presentation Description

More than any other building type, parking structures are subjected to harsh operational and environmental conditions.  Many are also constructed with a primary goal to minimize initial construction costs versus consideration of life cycle expenses.  Under these conditions, structural deterioration can quickly develop leading to the need for repairs to extend the useful life of the facility.  This presentation will review available assessment tools to identify the root causes of structural deterioration, typical repair strategies and approaches to prioritize repairs to fit within owner budgetary constraints.

Presenter Background

Stephen H. Lucy, PE, is the CEO for JQ Engineering and serves as principal investigator on complex structural assessment and repair projects. He is on advisory councils for Texas A&M University’s College of Engineering and the Architectural Engineering program and is a distinguished graduate of Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Steve is an honorary member of the Texas Society of Architects and the Dallas Chapter of AIA, and a past president on the North Texas Chapter of ICRI.
